#FaceCoveringChallenge MAKE AND DONATE ONLY DISCLAMER CDC Cloth Face Coverings: Questions and Answers https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-faq.html This mask is designed to be a face covering, not a surgical mask or N-95 respirator. The goal is to create a barrier in front of your mouth that can stop or reduce the aerosol you emit. Q: What is this mask? A: This mask is simply a facial covering, so it's not a surgical mask or an N-95 respirator. The objective is to have a cover in front of your mouth that can stop/reduce the aerosol you emit. This mask was inspired by a design from an Italian company named WASP. They did a great job using Blender to create a mask based on the human face. I printed their version, but with a basic printer it was difficult and time-consuming. https://www.3dwasp.com/mascherina-stampata-3d-da-scansione-3d/ Thank you for your intuition, I abandoned my original design (a geometrical shape that never fits the human face) and completely redesigned the mask based on an STL file of my own face, increasing its size slightly and modifying the shape to make it more universal. IMPORTANT: Once printed, you can model the mask using hot water (around 60 C). Submerge the face side of the mask in the hot water (not the filter part to avoid deformations)... at this point you can model it as you prefer. GASKET: The adhesive foam used for sealing doors and windows gaps will be perfect. FILTER: You can use any material that stops the aerosol emitted from your mouth. I tried three layers of Swifter dust remover, and it seems to be a good mix of breathability and filtering. Some more info from Cambridge University about homemade filters: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/258525804_Testing_the_Efficacy_of_Homemade_Masks_Would_They_Protect_in_an_Influenza_Pandemic CDC Cloth Face Coverings: Questions and Answers https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-faq.html "CDC is advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure" Designed in Fusion 360 FILES: STL Mask and Filter Stopper. STL Mask only. V3_Shark_more_rounded_on_the_bottom.stl: Sam design but with a more round bottom. STL Stopper only. DWG and other Fusion file (sorry they are a mess but I'm still learning.....)
