### WARNING This model has been redesigned with several key improvements, but it still requires careful use and assembly. ### Improved Design Features: The new design reduces plastic usage by 25% and accelerates print time by 20%. A cap with a ridge or groove along its entire circumference ensures a snugger fit. The filter surface area has also been significantly expanded to improve airflow. This mask can now accommodate two filters simultaneously: an outer MERV16 filter and an inner MERV13 filter, both of which provide enhanced protection against airborne contaminants. ### Assembly Instructions: To assemble the mask, follow these steps carefully: 1. Print the mask and cap using a 2-layer perimeter setting and 10% infill. 2. Print the cap-inner part with a 5-layer perimeter setting, 10% infill, and no top or bottom layers to ensure optimal performance. 3. Obtain a piece of rubber sheet measuring about the size of a US penny and glue it over the exhaust valve hole using a flexible adhesive such as "loctite vinyl fabric and plastic" or "shoe goo". 4. If necessary, print an additional part called vent-surface.stl to create a smooth surface for the rubber seal. 5. Place the mask face down on the outer filter media, trace its shape, and cut it out carefully. 6. Repeat steps 5-6 with the cap-inner part and inner filter media, leaving a small margin around the edges. 7. Assemble the parts according to the photos provided, ensuring that all seals are secure and tight. ### Important Safety Notes: * Use this mask at your own risk, as it may not provide adequate protection in certain situations. * Make sure the inner filter is snugly fitted and sealed tightly around its edges. * Test the seal by covering the front of the mask while inhaling; if air leaks through, adjust the fit accordingly. * Add weather stripping to the outside for a better seal on your face. ### Filter Media Recommendations: Use actual filters instead of paper towels. MERV16 filters are recommended for the outer layer due to their effectiveness against airborne contaminants. However, some MERV16 filters contain fiberglass fibers, so it's recommended to use a MERV12-13 filter as an inner layer to minimize exposure to these fibers.
