I created this custom mask for my wife, an essential worker, as an upgrade to the Covid-19 Mask V2. I replaced the original filter holder with a two-part design that securely holds the "filter element" in place during assembly, eliminating any risk of shifting or misalignment. This new design also uses less material and prints faster than its predecessor, resulting in improved airflow. To make this mask more visually appealing and fun, my wife requested a magnetic pig snout attachment. I designed it to put a smile on the faces of those she interacts with daily. The snout is secured by a 20x5x2mm magnet inside the snout and an 8x3mm magnet in the spacer. A 3/8" x 1/2" hollow weather stripping seal ensures a comfortable fit, allowing my wife to wear this mask for extended periods without discomfort. For the filter, I experimented with using two layers of blue shop towels, which several articles recommend as an effective filtration material. I plan to test shop vac filters and other household materials to find the best option. To improve airflow further, I'm testing alternative filter holders that can provide better air circulation while maintaining a secure fit. Please note that this mask may be too restrictive for individuals with breathing difficulties.
