COVID-19 Pandemic Creates Critical Shortage of PPE Medical professionals are putting themselves at risk by serving the public without proper face masks due to a severe shortage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To address this critical issue, a proposed iteration of 3D printable and reusable face mask has been designed. This innovative solution is capable of being custom-fitted to an individual's face and sanitized between uses. Print & Use The 3D print iteration boasts several benefits: • Easy printing: No raft or support is required during the printing process. • Low cost: The minimum amount of material is used, making it a cost-effective option. • Comfortable fit: The mask perfectly fits different face forms, providing optimal comfort and agronomic design. • Recyclable: The plastic material used in the print can be disposed of and recycled. • Reusable: The face mask can be used daily and sanitized between uses. The mask consists of two parts: the mask structure and filter holder. It does not include a filter to protect against the virus, but recommends using an N95 filter or HEPA filters for effective protection. To sanitize the mask, high concentration alcohol is recommended every 2.5 hours after prolonged contact with an infected person. Approval This model has not been approved by regulatory agencies and has not undergone any laboratory tests. It's an open-source prototype designed to help fill the gap in the shortage of masks during the pandemic using 3D printing technologies. We cannot guarantee its operation, so use it at your own risk. If you choose to mass-produce this model, it must be a not-for-profit venture that operates at cost to serve your local community.
