CoVid-19 MASK

CoVid-19 MASK

thingiverse

This is my contribution to the CoVid-19 pandemic response. It's incredibly easy to print and requires very little filament. No support material is necessary. I identified several issues with existing designs on Thingiverse: rubber band attachment loops are too close to the face, resulting in inadequate downward pressure due to the face's curvature. Most designs are overly complicated, featuring multiple parts and numerous potential leak points. Snap-fit components are unreliable in my opinion. This design uses regular round cotton pads for makeup (58mm diameter), widely available at grocery stores. After printing the mask and plug, place a cotton pad into the mask's round area and compress it with the plug, ensuring a tight seal. Make sure there are no gaps or leaks. Elastic strips or rubber bands should be added. Once you're done using it, simply discard the cotton pad and replace it with a new one. If you don't have cotton pads, you can also use tight-knit fabric. Print the plug at 95-97% scale, depending on the fabric's thickness. Cut a piece larger than the mask opening (inside loop) and use the plug to compress it between the mask and plug. If desired, heat the flange with a hair dryer and mold it to your face when the plastic is warm (assuming PLA). Walls are easy to mold (1mm). I'm not capable of printing it with TPU, but it should work fine if you can. Please post your results. Use this device at your own risk. I don't claim any responsibility for its effectiveness, despite its fair performance in testing.
