COVID-19 Mask 2 Remix
thingiverse
I'm remixing two DIY masks I've remixed before. To make them fit my face, I use 1/8 inch Bungie cords tied with knots at both ends. For this project, I used 2-3 coffee filters that are usually sufficient for home use, but if you want a closer match to the NR95 standard, you should opt for MERV-13 or better filter media from Amazon. The STL file provided is scaled to fit most faces without any air leaks, as long as you adjust it correctly before clamping everything together. To ensure a proper fit with high-MERV-rated filters, resize the lower or upper STL files first due to their thickness. If you need help understanding filter ratings, refer to this chart: http://www.mechreps.com/PDF/Merv_Rating_Chart.pdf On March 30, 2020, I tested 5 masks in the field, and they all fit fine without requiring any adjustments for face size. However, some minor issues arose: 1. Sanding the nose area was necessary to fit the filter better because of a seam in the STL file that needed to be hidden. 2. Adding foam around the mask frame would be beneficial for comfort. 3. A silicone coating on the nose piece could improve the overall design. I want to express my gratitude to all the men and women working tirelessly during this crisis.
