CoVid-19 Filter Mask (Quick, Inexpensive, Reusable)
thingiverse
Hi Everyone, This is the perfect moment to take action with a functional face mask. We can stop the spread of this coronavirus if we all take necessary precautions. Please view the design and fabrication videos (links below), along with the explanation of the design intent, as well as some key photos and assembly tips. It would be great to keep all certified N95 (or higher) masks available for medical personnel and first responders. But that doesn't mean we can't still be safe ourselves!! We can easily make masks which block virus-containing aerosolized droplets from entering our lungs AND prevent us from transmitting these droplets at the same time. This design is based on readily available hardware store materials (rubber bands, a piece of Tyvek, pleated air-filter material, contact cement, and tape), and some basic quick-print 3D parts. The design intent of this 'Thing' is to fabricate a re-usable facemask with inexpensive filter elements that anybody can put together with a little bit of DIY effort. This is a comfortable and conformal facemask that uses real filter materials (MERV13 rated hydrophobic polyolefin fiber-based filter element, rated for 300nm particulate blocking). The idea is to block transmission AND receipt of airborne virus-containing droplets. All component parts are designed to be easy to make and quick to print. If you don't have a printer, check with your friends and neighbors, and local resources. If you're in NH, contact me and I'll try to assist in making parts for you if possible. If you can, please help cover the time for design, engineering, and content development as well as the cost of materials for mask components I'm printing for people. I'm making as many masks as I can. Every dollar helps. Please contribute what you think this is worth to paypal.me/NSIDesign. Thanks very much for your time. Enjoy life, and Stay Safe.
