Covid-19 Face Shield - Print in just 21 minutes
thingiverse
This is version 2 of my improved 3D printable face shield design. Please see the original version here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4264178. Also, check out my alternative version with added side protection and solid top and bottom layers at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4303818. This design is interchangeable with this one. The Key Features are: * 21-minute print time at 0.20mm layer height * Stackable design allowing for the printing of 100+ masks in a single print * Strong lattice design requiring minimal print material * Printed successfully in PLA This new and improved version has enhanced support while being even quicker to print, taking only 21 minutes per print. This time can be reduced to around 18 minutes per print when printing on mass. Part 1 - The Main Visor Part: Made of a lattice structure, this part is designed to be printed one on top of the other, making it suitable for mass production even with small 3D printers (I have used the FlashForge Finder & Creality CR-10 Printers myself). Check out Devin's video at Make Anything to see how this is done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHKBvk8IAc0. Part 2 - This part is now stackable, but only when set up correctly with both the flat piece and then the stackable version above. (Both files are available in STL, FBX, OBJ, and Blender formats. Just make sure there are two layer gaps between each, so 0.4mm.) Print Settings: * Part 1: Layer Height - Either 0.2mm, 0.4mm or 0.6mm (Making sure z-axis height of part is 3.6mm) * Infill: 0% * Perimeter Shells: 2 * Top & bottom solid layers: 2 If stacking print, make sure to apply accurate layer gaps and test prior to printing a large amount. Part 2 especially needs to be set up exactly right and will still be a little challenging to separate. Part 2: Layer Height: 0.2mm Infill: 0% Perimeter Shells: 2 Top & bottom solid layers: 2 Please note that these settings are for my Flashforge Finder printer with a relatively small nozzle. For people with larger scale printers and larger print nozzles, feel free to push the settings to their limits, as I believe Part 1 could be printable on average in far less time with the right settings. I have included multiple file types to make it easy for anyone to edit, improve, and print my design. If printed on mass, this design could really help cut down on materials required and time taken to print a face mask. Any questions about my design, just ask, and any feedback is appreciated! Please note that if changing the size of the printed design, be sure to change both part sizes equally in order for them to fit together. Also, you will need to take into account the position of the holes will also be different.
