UPDATE 2 The "dentist" version was bugged, the visor was closed all the way on top, which meant the headband couldn't flex anymore to fit different head sizes. UPDATE: I got some feedback from my first users, and made a few changes to optimize the design. Made the headband a bit shorter. This means two pieces now fit on the print bed of my PRUSA, scaled to 99%. (see picture). Use version V003 from now on. Scale both copies to 99% and then rotate one of them by 180° around the Z axis. This should give you a layout as shown above. I have tried stacking the shields on top of each other but that failed. Added a "dentist" version where the top is closed. Dentists operate in a permanent water mist emanating from their patient's mouths, and are at high risk of infection. This is also an option for anyone who wants a more closed version, but be aware that ventilation may be restricted. ORIGINAL TEXT I wanted to do something to help protect medical personnel, and face shields are a big thing in the 3D community right now. Prusa's version is pretty good and has gone through several design improvements already. But I liked the way this thing fixed the clear visor better - I did not want to punch six holes by hand into every visor. So I decided to mash the two designs up. I also decided that a landscape orientation of the clear visor would suit most uses better, so I made a wide version. In addition to the print, you will need some slotted elastic band. I bought 30 mm wide material in a 25m roll off ebay The binding covers I am using are A4 size (21 x 29.7 cm), 0.2 mm thick and come in packs of 100 Link to Amazon. I am pretty sure you can also fit 0.3 mm covers in there, but keep in mind that they become less transparent with more thickness. The 0.2 mm version is more sturdy than I thought once it is in the curved shape. It doesn't even need a bottom clip like the Prusa version. Print Settings Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: I3 MK3S Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 30%, 3 perimeters Filament: Doesn't matter PETG Doesn't matter Notes: If you print in 0.3 mm, the print takes two hours at 100% speed. I run my Prusa at 150%. Please take care to only handle the pieces with gloves once they are printed. Handle all the materials as if you were infected, or you might end up spreading the disease instead of helping to prevent it. Post-Printing Assembly is pretty easy, slide the binding cover in, and fix the length of elastic material to the two hooks. Category: Biology
