Covid-19 Face Mask

Easy to 3D Print Face Mask. The model I've uploaded isn't the one in the headline picture, but a simpler version of the mask. If you'd like to try the 3-filter version, just ask and I'll upload it. There's also a version that includes a vent pipe for fitting, supplying positive pressure air into the mask. These are simple models, but if anyone wants a production-standard design that could be easily molded, then I can provide one if requested. This is an adaptation of previously submitted models used for ventilators, but with a change to the inlet allowing replacement cotton/paper/tissue filters to be fitted using the Cap to secure filter sheets around the periphery of the Mask extension. Filters are placed against the lip with the filters cut +10 to +20mm diameter larger than that of the outer diameter of the Mask extension. The Cap is pushed into position, wiping the outer diameter of the filters over the lip and along the outer diameter of the Mask extension. This secures the filters accordingly and the interference fit helps secure and seal the Cap. Both the Mask and Cap are very easy to print (no support structures needed). I'm currently printing in Polypropylene so that the mask incorporates some flexibility around the face and can be used for medical applications. Due to material, steam can be used to sterilize the face mask. So far, the print looks very good and stable. I'm printing using an Ultimaker 2+ with white PP, a bed temperature of 100 degrees Celsius and a head temperature at 220 degrees Celsius. The print speed is set to 80mm per second with 100% fill. I'll upload some pictures when done. I'm currently testing different "easy to get" filter materials and will be providing details on that too. The clearance between the inner diameter of the Cap and the outer diameter of the mask protrusion is 2.5mm, allowing multiple sheets of kitchen towel, fine cloth, dense filter sheets etc. to be fitted. As with all filters, they need changing regularly (every 2 to 4 hours). Wear gloves when changing filters. Disinfect/steam the Face Mask and Cap each time when changing filters. The large intake cap allows a larger filter surface area/volume and denser materials. It's essential to reduce air flow by introducing a larger surface area/volume/density of filter. You don't want small diameter filters as this concentrates collection of moisture, germs and virus, reducing the efficiency of the filter. Smaller intake sizes also require more porous filter materials to be used, which isn't good for containing bugs.
