Covid-19 Ear Saver (PacMan)
thingiverse
This is an ear protector/saver that I designed for my neighbor, who works as a nurse. It's practical yet fun because it pays homage to Pacman. I'll be printing several of these for my local hospital to help out. They're made from PLA, which can be easily disinfected and sterilized. Users have given me very positive feedback about this product. People love how light they are; you hardly notice them at all. Plus, they're flexible and durable. P.S. Here's how it works: Instead of tying the mask strings around your ears, you put this ear saver on the back of your head and clip the mask strings around Pacman to hold the mask in place. You can adjust the tension by placing the string closer to the edge or middle of Pacman. If you don't have much hair or a bun/ponytail to support it, flip the ear saver over and the raised letters and eye of Pacman provide extra friction to keep it in place. 4/25/20 - I've added a second STL file called Shorty, which is a slightly shorter ear saver since I thought the original one was a bit too long. It prints much faster as well. Additionally, I've added PowerPills in front of Pacman. 6/3/20 - I've created a version without letters. I'm also working on a two-color version.
