This work is inspired by Prusa Research's face shield design. https://blog.prusaprinters.org/from-design-to-mass-3d-printing-of-medical-shields-in-three-days/ In hospitals, disposable face shields and most other Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) are standard issue. Cleaning and sterilizing them is a costly and time-consuming process. This modified design builds on Prusa's face shield concept to create a single-use disposable device. 1. The printing time for this design is 1 hour, half the time required for Prusa RC2. 2. Material usage has been reduced by 19g, nearly half that of the original Prusa RC2. 3. Total height has been minimized to just 10mm, half that of Prusa RC2. 4. This design is compatible with Prusa's face shield, allowing users to simply plug it in. This design is specifically intended for use in hospitals where disposability is key. If reusability is the goal, Prusa's original design remains a better choice due to its wider and more comfortable hand band. We are currently working on donating 650 masks to our local hospital and may consider offering this face shield for sale through our online shop (https://precision-3dprinting.myshopify.com/). For any Covid-19 related protection equipment, precision 3D printing will only charge basic printing costs to keep operations going. You can also create your own face shield at home using a transparent plastic sheet and a hole puncher.
