Covid-19 / Coronavirus Face Mask

[Edit 4/1/2020] Just added another file appended "Closed Loop" for a version without the cut in the elastic loop. I designed this face mask from scratch after finding other designs just didn't fit my face well, didn't let me breathe easily, or didn't let me talk easily. As such, the main aspects of this mask are the dual filter intakes and ribbed areas indicating where the mask is to be folded to allow for the best possible fit. IMPORTANT: THIS MASK WAS NOT TESTED IN HOSPITAL SETTINGS NOR APPROVED OR ENDORSED BY ANY HEALTH ORGANIZATION. USE THIS MASK AT YOUR OWN RISK. Filter used: * Circular make-up removing cotton pads cut to size. Additional parts needed: * Heat gun, hair dryer, or very hot water (be careful not to scald yourself) to bend the plastic. * Glue (I used "Welders Glue" but any plastics glue will work; be careful with hot glue as it might bend the palstic). * Elastic band (or just anything to secure the mask to your head). * Optional: adhesive foam or any sort of soft cushion can be applied to the nose bridge area and chin area for additional seal and comfort. Printer settings (used in mask pictured): * PLA but PETG would be better and antimicrobrial would be even better * 0.3mm works just fine but 0.2mm might be better if you have the time * No support needed * I printed at 50 speed with 20 for the first layer but you can print at 60 Forming the mask to your face: 1) Start by bending in the middle doing one side at a time. As you do this bending, it helps to hold the mask to your face to check if your bends are good. 2) Bend in the middle nose bridge. 3) Bend in the upper side flaps over the nose bridge. 4) Sharply bend the lower outer flaps on the bottom chin plate - do not bend the bottom plate up yet (step 6). 5) Curve the chin bottom plate slightly to match the curvature of your chin. 6) Bend the entire bottom chin plate upwards so the lower flaps meet the sides of the mask. 7) Curve the side flaps which connect to the elastic to contour to the sides of your face. Gluing the mask together: * Ensure that the mask is molded as best as possible to your face before gluing. Pay particular attention to the gaps around your nose bridge and under your chin. Heat the plastic and try to mold it to remove these gaps. Any remaining gaps can be blocked using foam adhesive. 1) Apply liberal amounts of glue where the lower flaps meet the sides of the mask on the outside along the lower edges. Use regular tape on the inside to secure the flaps in place while the glue dries. 2) Apply liberal amounts of glue where the upper flaps meet the middle nose bridge flap on the inside of the mask. Use tape on the outside to secure the flaps in place. 3) Carefully apply glue to secure the cut in the side loops which hold the elastic band. 4) Optionally, you can use foam adhesive or any sort of foam glued to the nose bridge, chin area, or any portion of the perimeter of the mask to block off any air leakage.
