COVID-19 - Boltian Goggles
thingiverse
These are tough days for everyone, and especially for the hardworking staff in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, cleaners, and all those who have worked tirelessly to minimize the devastating effects of this deadly virus. Today, the materials needed to protect these heroes are crucial. Unfortunately, there isn't enough material available for everyone, so makers around the globe are working together to provide essential items with their 3D printers. This is my contribution - goggles that can help protect people from splashes from infected individuals. The frame of the goggles consists of 3D-printed components. The lens should be manufactured with transparent materials like PC or PVC, and a 1mm thickness is recommended. Flexible PVC allows for manual cutting, while the best solution might be to use a laser machine to cut a PC sheet. STL and STEP files are provided below, along with some print instructions in the images. Use the STLs to print the goggles, and the 'covid19-goggles-glass.stl' file is designed specifically for printing a template that can be used to manually cut the lens if you're using transparent materials like flexible PVC. If you'd like to modify, improve, or create your own version of these goggles, feel free to do so - use the STEP files and make it happen! The prototypes were printed with Prusament PETG orange material on a textured PEI plate using a Prusa I3 MK3S machine.
