Create compounds that hold together with covalent bonding! Choose any atom you want and get specific about how many bonds it forms, then select the length of those bonds, and you're all set! This is my first OpenSCAD project, so let's go through it. I'll be printing this out soon to see how it turns out! I've uploaded some sample STL files that show what it can do. Project: Customizing Covalent Bonds Objective: Students should learn to model covalent compounds easily. Audience: Chemistry students from middle school to college levels. Preparation: Basic understanding of covalent bonding is required. Task 1: Choose a compound you want to create, like glucose. Identify the necessary atoms (6 carbon, 12 hydrogen, 6 oxygen) and print them out. Task 2: Design bonds with specific lengths as per the requirements of your compound. This is how your compounds are going to come together. Assembly: Combine the printed-out atoms according to your covalent bond structure to get a molecular model! Now you can experiment by trying different structures (crystalline, molecular etc.). Have fun learning and customizing new covalent compounds.
