Costa Mejostilla
thingiverse
This urban furniture piece is a collaborative design, created with digital tools and fabrication processes. Functioning as both a bench and small stage, it's constructed from 12mm plywood using contour/section techniques. Dimensions are 2418mm x 3180mm x 642mm. Adaptable to various situations, it's been parametrized with Grasshopper for customization. Developed within the Fabbing CC project in Caceres, Spain, this design is considered a beta version due to its size experimentation. Improvements include redesigning joints for better press fit, adding pieces that secure sections, and enhancing ground contact for easier assembly, adjustability, and moisture protection. The Sevilla Fablab team created the design, fabrication, and assemblage. More details about the collaborative process and other pieces can be found on the provided Spanish blog link. Assembly is challenging due to high friction in long joints; a flat base and flat plywood sheets are recommended. Nesting can also be improved for more efficient use of sheet materials. Future versions will include suggested improvements.
