I was looking for a compact cookie tray. Okay, PLA isn't cleared by the FDA, but honestly I believe most folks would still likely devour a cookie resting directly on a surface, even without a plate - and PLA plates should be just fine too. To be safe though, this minimalist design limits cookie-to-PLA contact thanks to its wavy pattern inspired by the cosine curve. Built in Tinkercad with Brandon Cole's fantastic community scripting tool "Surface", which uses z=4*cos(.2*x) to create those distinctive ripples. This project printed out on a Replicator 2 using MakerWare's settings for .3mm low-layer thickness, along with a raft to help stabilize the object during printing - and with this configuration, the whole process takes around one hour and twenty minutes. One interesting aspect of this print is that it's primarily just one layer high; in order to achieve this, it was necessary to print the tray lying on its side rather than upright, thus eliminating any need for supports.
