Corrective Bracket (CoBra) Mod for Z-axis Leadscrew Upper Bracket Replacement
thingiverse
This is a current work in progress replacement for the upper bracket of the z-axis leadscrew assembly for the sidewinder x1, though it should be easy enough to adjust to any printer which uses leadscrews for the z-axis. The idea is to still provide guidance and support to the leadscrew, while significantly reducing constrains on the leadscrew which can allow small imperfections in the leadscrew's alignment to manifest as "z wobble" artifacts in the print. This design is still very much a work in progress. Initial tests are promising, however I would very much like to test the angle of the cone to see if it has any affect on the design's performance. The current angle is 45 degrees. This design was created using Onshape using a pseudo-parametric approach. If you have an Onshape account, here is a share link for my design which you should be able to copy and the modify as you would like: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/1c3ed55d05e4f1e20efb97c2/w/b425380361f9e77d5441c64b/e/bb33ae6b8c0c25e7ee0b63c0 If you do any modifications or testing, PLEASE consider leaving a comment sharing your findings! UPDATE: adjusted the offset for the bracket from 20.25mm off the surface of the extrusion to 21mm after experiments from papstFish. I also removed the Zbrace mod, because papstFish made a WAY better one and uploaded it as a remix so check that out! Also maalie made a very suave looking version for the Genius so check out his remix as well!
