Coronavirus / Flu Reusable Emergency Respiratory Mask

Coronavirus / Flu Reusable Emergency Respiratory Mask

thingiverse

The news of panic surrounding Coronavirus has severely depleted the availability of respiratory masks, surgical masks, and dust masks. I created this reusable mask frame to be used with any available filter materials that might still be accessible, such as coffee filters, paper towels, napkins, tissues, or toilet paper. I designed it to be quick to print and easy to install or replace the filter material. For elastic, rubber bands or elastic cord can be used, or even string if nothing else is available. This design will scale up and down as needed without requiring any redesign. As shown in the images, this prints flat with a printed hinge in the middle. The symmetry of the frame is aligned for installing the filter material. One side contains larger through-holes while the other side has a through-hole with an extruded boss that fits snugly in the other half when folded and when the filter material is installed. The chosen elastic keeps the halves together and the filter material securely in place.
