This COVID-19 Doorbell Will Keep High Fever Visitors Out of Your Home. Now that the world is taking drastic measures to combat this pandemic, what about a COVID-19 Doorbell to keep suspected cases outside your home? It seems terror writer Dean R. Koontz was right and the COVID-19 outbreak is spreading rapidly. Using airport-style scanning technology, this doorbell scans visitors' body temperatures as soon as they ring the bell using an IR remote thermometer. If their temperature is normal, the bell rings normally, but if it's high, an alarm sounds. IR Thermometer Theory: Everything with mass emits heat energy, which means that any object or person gives off infrared radiation. An infrared thermometer measures this difference to determine a person's body temperature. The IR thermometer works by focusing light from the object into a thermopile, where IR radiation is converted to heat and then to electricity, which is measured. Project Details: The process begins when you press the doorbell button, triggering a hidden IR thermometer to measure your visitor's body temperature. This temperature is displayed on a 7-segment display screen and compared to standard fever temperatures. If their temperature is normal, the doorbell rings normally; if it's high, an alarm alerts you to a potentially infected visitor. COVID-19: People with COVID-19 often have fevers, which can be easily measured. Of course, there are asymptomatic cases and an incubation period, but as long as these factors can be controlled, this doorbell will work like airport scanners.
