Corner Joints for 10mm rods shaft - Spray/Photo/Clean Booth etc

thingiverse

I have some spare 10mm shafts/rods salvaged from an old shoe rack and decided to make a "clean" booth from it. Adding designs from other Things, potentially, you could add exhaust fans (ie the iris aperture fan door, mounts for whatever size fan you have, etc for a spray/clean booth setup). For photo booth, just use white panels, or add white "sheets" inside, and lightings will do the trick. There are small holes on 3 sides for 3mm heat inserts, and depending on the thickness of the panels you decide to use, just scale up the screw length. The length of the shaft/rod and panel size will depend on how big you want for your build. Just secure with M3 BHCS screws or whatever M3 screws you have (please size accordingly to the thickness of your panel, or add washers/spacers if necessary. For my case, I am using 4mm thick coroplast, and using BHCS M3x8mm. Material I will be using: 1) 3x 49mm aluminium hollow shaft (salvaged from old shoe rack) 2) 8x 24.5mm aluminium hollow shaft (cut into half from salvaged old shoe rack) 3) 24x M3 heat inserts (OD 5mm, Length 4mm) 4) 20-24 BHCS M3x8mm 5) Coroplast panels Note: 1) The heat inserts holes are 7.5mm from the edges of the joint. This might be useful for your hole drilling 2) The corner joint is 30x30x30mm, and the 10mm hole is 15mm deep. This might be useful for sizing the panels 3) The 10mm shaft/rod should fit just nice (at least for my case), and if it's too loose for your case, just add some teflon tape for tighter fit. If it's too tight, slowly and carefully drill with a 10mm bit, bearing in mind not to over do it. 3) I printed these in ABS+, this could be printed in PLA or ABS, or other filament which suits your needs/environment, but i don't think flexible filament would be a good choose. The picture with mini sander and A4 paper taped is just for testing purposes. lol For now, i am pending the top acrylic panel, and bottom panel (which i have not decided what material to use for a steadier base). Will update with some pictures once this has been decided. I will upload my final design once the parts arrived. At the moment, i am using multiple shorter acrylic sheets for my top panel, until I get my hands on the correct sized acrylic. TINKLE AND ENJOY!
