Are you a fan of the Canadian television series "Corner Gas"?It is set in the fictional town of Dog River, Saskatchewan (Rouleau) and aired in the early-mid 2000's.I wanted to print a small (100mm) "Corner Gas" placard to display near our television but the only thing available here on Thingiverse was a multi-part "3D" sign.Unfortunately it has a few issues that prevent it from being easily assembled once printed (I tried). And its white border shell is far too wide.So I located a suitable graphic file to serve as a source. After converting it to the green monochrome file (to control the area heights) I opened it in Cura.Next, I saved it as an .stl file for future use and printed it as shown. The approximate width of the finished placard is 100mm (about 4") but you can of course scale it to suit your needs.Or, you can just open the monochrome .jpg file (the all-green one) in your slicer with it set to interpret the lightness of each area as a relative height (lighter is higher). If instead you set the slicer to interpret darkness as a being higher you will print it in reverse which may make painting it a bit simpler. Then use the full color graphic as a painting guide. For reference, the colors I used are as follows-White- 20503EBright Red- 20501EYellow- 20502ECrisp Green- 21890EAll are "Apple Farms" paint that is available inexpensively from WalMart or crafts stores. Finally, I clear-coated it using Dupli-Color automotive "wheel clear" that is available in almost any auto parts store. This protects the paintwork from chipping and UV and also helps to blend over any minor imperfections.I have included the original color graphic (black background), the green monochrome version and the .stl file from Cura.Warning- The .stl file is very large (41mb), an outcome of Cura's export process.I hope you like this, and thanks for looking!
