Corner Blocks for Band Clamp
thingiverse
These custom blocks transform a standard ratcheting tie-down strap into a four-corner band clamp, perfect for securing boxes during the gluing process. They are specifically designed for use with 1" wide straps like those available on Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Secure-Sling-Strap-U07000101500015-Strength/dp/B077S5NG4N. Simply thread the strap through the blocks to secure your boxes. To create these blocks, I used my 3D printer with a PLA material and settings of five perimeters, seven top and bottom layers, and twenty percent infill. Alternatively, using ABS would provide even greater strength. For a standard setup, three perimeters and five layers on both the top and bottom can be used, accompanied by an increased infill of around fifty percent. I have included photos of my box project that features this custom clamping system in action. These blocks work exceptionally well with boxes that have mitered corners, and the clamp effectively pulls the corner miters into perfect alignment.
