coreboxes and bushings
thingiverse
I made two separate coreboxes after having a hard time with my old one. It was way easier to have just three, for the sizes I really need: 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, and 3/4 inch. To build the holder_corebox, you should print at least two copies, and they might be a bit tight in your hands, so just gently file them until the coreboxes can fit smoothly inside and slide in and out without slipping. Now you'll have something to hold those end pieces together firmly while pushing the sand in with some force. In my design process, I use two sizes of bushings, mostly because I often need a 1/2 inch bore on these pulleys, but then again it would be nice not having to repeat all the same patterns for one single item that requires different sized bores. That's where these bushings come in – just slip them over the 1/2 inch rod and right next to the pulley you're designing. They create a little hole instead of taking up space with that half inch rod, which gives me some extra room for designing another core size I may need later.
