CoreBot - CoreXY 3D printer with linear rails
thingiverse
I've got a new 3D printer project called CorEssentials that I'm really excited about. Check it out on GitHub: https://github.com/MacNite/CorEssentials. I wanted to build a super reliable printer that's ready for the E3D tool-changing mechanism, which is finally being released. At first, I thought of building a Hypercube or Hypercube Evolution, but soon realized that their design wasn't stiff enough for the build area I had in mind. So, I started optimizing all the parts and swapped out the linear guides for Hiwin Rails (MGN12 on the y-axis and MGN9 on the x-axis). While doing that, I also added an "electronics compartment" to the back using 3060 aluminum extrusion. This printer has a build area of around 500x500x500mm, with the y-axis optimized to fit the tool-changing mechanism. There's even an Excel sheet available so you can calculate the required length for a smaller version.
