Core XY for 3UP
thingiverse
Simple modification adds core XY drive to 3UP or any Hbot printer. Print two each of A and B parts, normal and reversed. Two Misumi HBLFSN5-C corner brackets are needed. Four F624ZZ flanged bearings, four M3X35mm screws, two M5x8 screws, and M3 nuts (Trimcraft RC) are also required. Additionally, a length of spacing material is necessary to sleeve up from M3 to M4 inside the bearing. A brass tube from KS Engineering (Ace Hardware), 5/32 x .014 (3.97mm x .355mm), Stock #128 is used for this purpose. The key step is moving one drive pulley up 3mm and one down 3mm, allowing the belt to cross over without touching. This results in a totally smooth drive that eliminates Hbot X gantry wiggling. It may be necessary to shorten the inside mounting screw for the stepper motor to prevent it from bottoming out. A longer belt is also needed to account for the crossing between two driving stepper motors.
