Cordierite anthophyllite skarn #88 05-21

This sample, from the Betty Mine in Park County, Colorado, boasts an impressive collection of large anthophyllite blades. The longest of these blades stretch several centimeters. Notably, a significant amount of cordierite is also present, although its finer grain makes it more challenging to identify at first glance. A closer inspection reveals that the cordierite exhibits a striking blue to gray hue and a vitreous sheen. Its subtle presence would be nearly impossible to detect if not for this distinctive coloration.
