Cord Tensioner with Cord Trap

Cord Tensioner with Cord Trap

thingiverse

My previous Cord Tensioner, 875245, let go of the cord whenever it was pulled at an angle. But now, I needed one that wouldn't release the cord regardless of the angle at which it departed the tensioner. This new design is intended to install under the eaves to secure a tarp, and depending on how the grommets line up with the rafters, the tensioner has to be mounted either directly on a rafter or underneath the roof. It must also hold the cord in various exit positions. So, I added a sturdy closed loop around the cord at the point of exit and installed an additional screw for added support. This updated version is 25% larger than its predecessor, making the three mounting screw holes perfectly suited to Spax flat head #8 wood screws. Consequently, this makes it more challenging to thread the cord into the tensioner. It would be feasible to use a maze instead of a simple loop to simplify this process, so you wouldn't have to guide an end through, but I believe that requires additional space. Please refer to my earlier design for printing recommendations.
