CoralVue Klir Di-4 Filter Adapter for Red Sea Sumps
thingiverse
The CoralVue Klir Di-4 roller filter cannot be installed in the Red Sea sump directly from the box. However, an adapter is available that will allow it to slide right into place of the stock filter sock and create a dam that raises the water level in the drainage section to 1.5 inches needed to trigger the roller sensor. To install this adapter, remove the filter sock and drawer first. I have tested this on my Red Sea MAX E-170 add-on sump with a drain area width of 117mm. It may also work with other single sock Red Sea sumps, but I haven't personally tested it. Therefore, please measure your drain area before printing. I recommend printing the adapter with 100% infill since it will be submerged in water. Also, use a water-safe filament that won't degrade or leach into the water over time. Installation instructions are available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/YKAKFAieYZA and https://youtu.be/BuX2pS853yE. **Updates:** - October 1st, 2018: A new version of the adapter is now available with a larger design that makes room for the optical sensor and motor to face forward. This updated version reduces material usage by hollowing out certain parts without compromising strength or seal. - September 29th, 2018: I have uploaded v4.1 with a small inset lip where the Klir collar rests. This seems to provide an even better seal.
