I created this 3D design using Fusion 360 and Meshmixer software. My creation, Coral's Song, has been honored with a prestigious National Award from the esteemed National Scholastic organization. The inspiration behind my model was to craft an image of dead or bleached coral, highlighting the urgent need to raise awareness about the plight of these vital marine ecosystems. Coral reefs, which are a crucial part of our planet's aquatic life support system, are struggling to survive due to rising temperatures and acidic water conditions. As a Floridian, I am deeply concerned about this issue, as it directly affects my local environment. My design represents the eerie silence of a coral reef after its death, leaving behind only white calcium carbonate skeletons. This haunting image serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating consequences of neglecting our ocean's health.
