Silurian chain coral from Burrington Halysites, meaning chain coral, was a type of extinct tabulate coral. Colonies measured anywhere from less than one centimeter to tens of centimeters in diameter and preyed upon plankton. These ancient corals lived during the Ordovician to Silurian periods, spanning approximately 449.5 to 412.3 million years ago. Remains of Halysites species have been discovered in sedimentary deposits throughout Canada, the United States, Poland, and Australia. This object was scanned using an Artec Spider scanner and processed with Artec Studio 12 by C. Greenall.
