Copy of old drill bit index / stand
thingiverse
This replica is modeled after a vintage drill bit index (view attached image). It features two distinct layers - lower and upper - each boasting a slightly recessed area where paper labels can be securely attached to display the size of each drill bit (refer to reference photo). Approximate dimensions: The base diameter measures 8 inches, while the height extends to 4 inches to the top row, and 8 inches to the top of the handle. The paper labeling should be printed at a standard resolution of 300 DPI. It will include drill number, decimal inches size, fractional inches size, and tap size. The source of this information comes from Starrett's reference guide for Decimal Equivalents and Tap Drill Sizes (visit http://www.starrett.com/docs/educational/decimal-equivalent-card---bulletin-1317.pdf). The provided .xcf files can be optionally opened in the open-source graphic editor GIMP. EDIT 1/1/2019 - A new component has been added to support fractional drill bit sets, replacing the original part designed for numbered drill bits. Corresponding images have been included for labeling this updated part.
