In this innovative design, electronic components such as the flight controller and motor ESCs are integrated within the structure for enhanced protection in case of crashes. The organic shape with its smooth lines helps dissipate forces evenly across the structure. I utilized Solidworks to design the rough space, then optimized it using Solid Thinking Inspire before adding final details such as motor screw mounting holes back in Solidworks. A Simulation in Solidworks revealed that the completed frame, printed with ABS and 100% infill, should weigh approximately 14g - a 52% reduction from the original 29,24g design space weight. Additionally, I conducted a 3D test print in PLA at a 0.2mm layer height; while it printed without supports, resulting in some messiness, the test print was sufficient for evaluation purposes.
