Copernicus Crater

Copernicus Crater

myminifactory

The Northeast Planetary Data Center at NASA RPIF System, Seth S Horowitz and Peter H. Schultz are responsible for documenting this lunar crater. The Copernicus crater is easily visible with binoculars on the Moon's Earth-facing side, located slightly northwest of its center. It stands out due to its size and numerous bright rays extending outward from it. Despite being relatively young compared to other lunar craters, Copernicus formed nearly a billion years ago as a result of an enormous impact. The crater measures approximately 93 kilometers across at its center. This 3D model is displayed with a 3x vertical exaggeration.
