Cooper's Croze
sketchfab
3D model of cooper's croze, crafted for creating grooves roughly an inch and a half below the rim of a barrel to securely hold the lid or head. This object bears the stamp "Peter J Jack, Wick". Its estimated age is c. late 19th/early 20th century. The physical artifact is housed at the Timespan Museum as part of the Helmsdale Fishing Village reconstruction. A collaborative effort between Open Virtual Worlds, a research team within the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews and Timespan Museum brings this project to life. Catherine Cassidy and Iain Oliver led the 3D digitization process with expert archaeological input from Jacquie Aitken. The EU Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme 2014-2020 provided funding for this initiative through the "Connected Culture and Natural Heritage in a Northern Environment" (CINE) project.
