Cooling Fan mount for Rostock Max V3
thingiverse
Hello All, To combat my EZstruder's stepper motor overheating and warping the filament entering the bowden tube, I designed this Fan Mount for SeeMeCnc's Rostock Max V3. This modification has lowered my Stepper Motor's temperature by about 18°C (see photos above). Since it also serves the entire top compartment of the Printer, it helps with the RAMBo and Pi boards I have in there. Note that the intake air is only as cool as the ambient air around your printer (the enclosure is next...). The fan mount uses a standard 120 mm computer case fan. I upgraded mine with a Thermaltake Ring fan. The mod attaches directly to the existing injection-molded panel mounts using the same hardware for the melamine panels (melamine panel removed). Use 4mm hardware to attach the fan to the mount (the hex openings are 7.5 mm flat to flat). I also added a wire way for the fan wiring into the upper compartment of the printer (sexy-factor). Wired the 120 mm fan into the existing 40 mm fan connection on the RAMBo board. The only thing I might do in the future is get a dust filter for the fan intake.
