I designed my Ormerod 2 3D printer project with precision, creating an acrylic piece (781) that enables attaching a cooling fan for improved airflow and optimal results. To begin, I attached the 40x40x10 Akasa fan together with the acrylic piece, effectively increasing air circulation around the print bed. **Print Settings** * Printer: Ormerod 2 528.4 * Rafts: Optional, not required in this instance * Supports: Not needed for my project * Resolution: + Initial layers at 0.1mm precision, achieving high detail and accuracy + Subsequent layers printed at 0.2mm, maintaining print speed while ensuring structural integrity **Design Specifications** * Infill Pattern: Utilizing a unique 25% Archimedean Chords infill design for added stability and minimal material usage * Print Setup: + Vertical shells consist of three layered walls, enhancing the structure's rigidity + Horizontal shells at both top and bottom are divided into three layers each, providing an additional layer of protection **Materials Used** * Filament: White Verbatim PLA 1.75mm for optimal compatibility with Ormerod 2 * Hotend Temperature: Precise control maintained at a consistent 185°C to achieve desired melting properties * Heated Bed Temperature: Calibrated and kept at 65°C, ensuring even bed adhesion and print quality **Post-Printing Procedure** Following the successful completion of my project, I addressed a slight imperfection by carefully drilling out the upper hole that had sagged due to insufficient cooling during printing. To compensate for this weakness, a Q-tip is used as a makeshift tethering agent to connect the acrylic piece securely to the EM shield. **Project Design Process** Initially, I created and assembled the Ormerod hotend within SolidWorks software to define the boundaries for designing my project's structural components.
