To customize this design click on the link here. This bracket attaches to the left side of Makerfarm Prusa i3v extruder and is used to cool the workpiece layers before printing the next one. This improves printing of pieces with small area layer such as the test STL file attached here. To install, attach the fan to the bracket with two M3x12 screws, then attach the bracket to the left side of the extruder using a M3x20 screw that replaces the existing M2x16. Sticking a tape below the extruder helps keep the nut in place. Wire the fan to the Ramps D9 (+) and (-1) terminals. You can control the fan from your slicing software, such as Slic3r, or from Marlin's Control menu. The rotary switch updates fan speed only when clicked. I printed with PLA using material support disabled, and noticed no heat issues from the extruder. Note that a M3x20 was not available, so a M3x30 was used instead, paired with a 10mm spacer, which is why the screw in the pictures appears longer than needed. The fan should blow air toward the workpiece. Also included is an OpenSCAD parametric source file to tweak STL files if necessary. This fan does not replace the main fan that cools the nozzle's cooling fans above it; its purpose is to cool off the workpiece.
