<p>In the building of my <a href="https://blog.brianmoses.net/2017/03/diy-nas-2017-edition.html">DIY NAS: 2017 Edition</a> using the SilverStone DS380 case, I noticed that my hard disk drive temperatures were running a few degrees higher than I was comfortable with.</p> <p>I wound up reading a <a href="https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=43802.0">FreeNAS forum post describing blocking an air gap at the bottom of the case's drive cage</a> and asked myself "Why not design a duct that screws into the case's 120mm cooling fans?"</p> <p>After a few minutes with my calipers, a few revisions later, and after stamping my face on the thing, I had a closed the majority of the SilverStone DS380's air gap with the duct.</p> <p>No 3D Printer? No problem! <a href="http://blog.patshead.com">My friend Pat</a> is <a href="https://www.tindie.com/products/patshead/cooling-fan-duct-for-silverstone-ds380b-case/">selling the Cooling Fan Duct For Silverstone DS380B Case on his Tindie store</a> for quite a bit cheaper than the few 3D printing services I compared it to.</p> Category: Computer
