I was building my DIY NAS: 2017 Edition using the SilverStone DS380 case when I noticed my hard disk drive temperatures running a few degrees higher than I liked. I started reading a FreeNAS forum post that explained how to block an air gap at the bottom of the case's drive cage and thought, "Why not design a duct that screws into the case's 120mm cooling fans?" After taking out my calipers for a few minutes, making some revisions, and stamping my face on it, I managed to close most of the SilverStone DS380's air gap with the duct. No 3D Printer? That was okay! My friend Pat is selling the Cooling Fan Duct For Silverstone DS380B Case on his Tindie store for a lot cheaper than the few 3D printing services I compared it to.
