Cool Moai

Cool Moai

This experiment was designed to test how well a cylindrical light source could reflect light onto an adjacent solid surface, specifically the eyes. The results exceeded expectations! Given that many people liked the final design excessively, it's worth noting that the "Cool Moai" can be printed either as a standalone colorized or paintable object, or as a transparency for backlighting use. When printed in transparency form, it is implied that a wired LED will be used. When wiring these devices together, you have two options: using a CR2032 battery stand-alone, or incorporating it into a series circuit. When connecting multiple units, the power source can be fed through the hole at the back of the design, enabling DC power to support an external LED power source. Feel free to connect as many devices as desired and automate their blinking functionality. If you're wondering how far the wire and LED can extend up the figurine, a comment with a link to a video provides insight into its internal workings via a wire-frame model.
