Beastie the bug on the cookie plate: I have designed a two-part cookie cutter from the mascot of the EPPO. On the one hand the outline of Beastie (1) is cut out, with the stamp (2) the face and other details of the mascot are embossed in the cookie dough. Dip the cutter in flour to avoid sticking. Have fun with the Beastie cookies. Beastie the bug is the mascot of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO), created for the International Year of Plant Health 2020 (https://beastiebug.eppo.int/). Beastie represents pests that are just as dangerous as Beastie is cute: these pests are carried from distant countries to new areas with plants or fruits but also goods, such as travel souvenirs or even in packaging material like wood palettes. If the climatic conditions are right and potential host plants are available, they can cause considerable ecological and economic damage in these new areas. Zum einen wird der Umriss von Beastie (1) ausgestochen, mit dem Stempel (2) werden das Gesicht und weitere Details des Maskottchens in den Keksteig geprägt. Die Ausstechform in Mehl tauchen, um ein Anhaften des Teiges zu vermeiden. Viel Freude mit den Beastie-Keksen. Wenn die klimatischen Bedingungen stimmen und potenzielle Wirtspflanzen vorhanden sind, können sie in diesen neuen Gebieten erhebliche ökologische und wirtschaftliche Schäden anrichten.
