Convertible Hardtop covers for BMW E46
thingiverse
My wife's car was equipped with a hard top, but during summertime, the hardtop gets removed and you're left with huge gaping holes in the plastic trim. Apparently, there's a cover that fits into those spaces, but they cost around $60 to $80 each. I couldn't stomach paying such an outrageous price for some plastic, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I designed my own solution and sanded it down before giving it a sleek black finish with plastidip. It looks good enough for me. If you don't feel like DIYing one yourself, try searching for these part numbers on eBay or at your local BMW dealership: 51717022385 and 51717022386. P.S. Be sure to break off the bunny ears before mounting the piece - they tend to get in the way and never seem to line up properly. But don't worry, it'll fit snugly into place without falling away.
