Convert a Fabrikator Mini into a drawing plotter
thingiverse
Pen holder for the Fabrikator Mini (aka TinyBoy) to be attached to the back of the extruder, closer side to the Y motor. This pen holder can be used with the Cura.ini profile for converting images to G-code. Then import the code into Repetier, and it works fine. Make sure in Repetier G-code editor or in Cura before exporting the G-code to manually eliminate homing movements at the start of the code because the pencil will stop the Y and Z axis before it can touch the end-stop controller, making otherwise the motors lose steps. You would have to set up manually the zero point, at least for Y and Z, using command: G92 X0 Y0 Z0 (optionally @isathome). For more information on setting zero manually on Fabrikator Mini or any other RepRap-based machine, see this Reprap forum thread. Here are the two files I designed in Onshape that you can adapt to change pen diameter/hexagon dimensions, then export to STL from the Onshape website: Circular Pen Holder. Default inner diameter = 8.8 mm Hexagonal Pen Holder. Default face-to-face hexagon distance = 7.7 mm Watch this video of the machine making some drawings.
