The Convair C-131 Samaritan, a military transport produced from 1954 to 1956 by Convair, was an adaptation of the Convair CV-240. It featured animateable propellers, ailerons, flaps, elevators, landing gear, and landing gear doors, and came in various formats. The military version emerged from its earlier trainer model, the T-29, which also derived from the Convair 240 and was employed to train USAF navigators for all USAF aircraft. In service with the US Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and multiple international military organizations until the early '80s, many of these planes were later sold for private use after being declared surplus.
