Available in numerous formats, the Convair F-102 was a key component of U.S. Air Force air defenses in the late '50s during the Cold War. Commissioned in 1956, its primary function was to intercept incoming Soviet bomber squadrons. By the mid-to-late '60s, many F-102s were transferred from active duty Air Force to the Air National Guard.
