Available in various formats, this model replicates the Convair CV-580, a popular medium haul, medium load commercial aircraft during the 1960s and 70s. Operated by major and regional airlines until the late 70s/early 80s when replaced by jets like DC-9 and 737s, the CV-580 succeeded the CV-340 and Martin 404 as a CV-340 version with Allison Turboprop engines for increased power, speed, and efficiency. After being utilized by many smaller carriers for cargo and charter operations into the 2000s, most are now retired; however, some still function globally.
