The Convair CV-580 was a popular medium haul, medium load transport aircraft during the 1960s and 70s, used by major and regional airlines until replaced by jets like DC-9s and 737s. Designed for smaller carriers as an upgrade from the CV-340 and Martin 404, it boasted Allison Turboprop engines for enhanced power, speed, and efficiency. Many continued freight and charter operations well into the 2000s, although most are now out of service with some still in use globally.
