The Convair CV-580, a popular medium haul transport aircraft in the '60s and '70s, was used by major and regional airlines until the early '80s when jets like DC-9 and 737s took over. Designed for smaller carriers as replacements for CV-340 and Martin 404, it featured Allison Turboprop engines for enhanced power, speed, and efficiency. Post-retirement from commercial use, many of these aircraft continued freight and charter operations well into the 2000s. Although most are out of service today, some still fly around the globe.
