Available in various formats, the Convair CV-580 was a widely used transport aircraft for medium haul and medium load commercial airlines from the 1960s to the 1970s. It served major and regional airlines until the late 1970s and early 1980s when it was replaced by jets like DC-9 and 737s. Originally designed for smaller regional carriers as replacements for the CV-340 and Martin 404, the CV-580 boasted Allison Turboprop engines that provided increased power, speed, and efficiency.
